We regularly use machines under automatic control (computerized numerical control) for sheet metal production. These processes have been developed and enhanced for many years and industry standards are in continuous growth. It is now said that after two years of contraction and flat trends, economists are now announcing positive economic growth in the sheet metal industry across the globe.
Evidence of a Healthy Sheet Metal Industry
The EuroBLECH 2014 Sheet Metal exhibition was more globally acclaimed and better attended by exhibitors than ever before. The percentage of international visitors increased to 38% compared to 34% in 2013. Further still, as a UK based company working with customers all over Europe we have seen the changes first hand. By following the latest news, keeping up with technological enhancements and working with new customers daily it is clear the industry is growing all the time.
What does this mean for Customers?
It means the market is rich and competitive, so you have to do your research. The truth is diverse markets mean higher risk for the customer. Firstly, you need to compare the capacity list of your potential companies and make sure you don’t get stuck with any second rate machinery.
Secondly, you need to pick up the phone. Now more than ever you can’t trust your gut, you need to know you can trust the company with your service. It is worth finding out how long they have been in the industry, as a history of service is usually representative of a good service. If they are open to providing senior team members names online, then why not ask to speak with one directly for more detail?
Lastly, you need to look for a BSI Certificate. Specifically, you need to know that the quality of production and general sheet metal work complies with the requirements of ISO 9001. Don’t forget, standards are poorer overseas. If you are a European customer then it is worth investing in a European sheet metal company that meets ISO 9001 standards.
